About the Governing Body

The Hingalganj college was established on 24th feb, 2005. Since inception of the College, it was affiliated to the University of Calcutta and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) and 12B of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. After establishment of West Bengal State University (WBSU) college is attached to it Since 2008. The Governing Body of the College is the highest policy and decision-making body, at the top of the administrative structure, representing a different cross-section of the people providing the overall guidance and supervision to the College. The constitution, power and functions of the Governing Body have been laid down in the Calcutta University First Statutes, 1979. The relevant provisions of the West Bengal Universities and Colleges (Administration and Regulation) Act, 2017 is also applicable regarding the constitution of Governing Body.The Governing Body appoints several sub-committees like, Finance Sub-Committee, Building Sub-Committee, Purchase Sub-Committee, Academic Sub-Committee, Admission Board, Anti-Ragging Committee etc. for proper and efficient functioning of the College. The policy matters are decided upon by the Governing Body but details of implementation and day to day administration are done by the Principal being the Head of Institution (HOI) and Ex-Officio Secretary of the Governing Body.
