he Department ensures that the students are given appropriate exposure to modern tools of teaching and learning. At present only General Degree Course is offered in Sociology. Students pursuing Honours in History, Political Science and Geography may choose Sociology as General Course. Besides this, students pursuing B.A/B.Sc General Program may take up Sociology as one of their Core Subjects.

The present course runs through Semester system, following Choice Based Credit System under West Bengal State University.

To ensure proper course conduct, lesson plans are drawn systematically. Teachers use modern technological tools, including Audio Visual Tools to promote interest and involvement of students.

The Students actively participate in the learning process through open debates, Group Discussion, Class Presentations and Creative endeavors such as publication of Departmental Wall Magazine.
