Ragging is strictly debarred in Hingalganj Mahavidyalaya. If anybody is found to participate in such activities, stringent action will be taken irrespective of the extent of the act. Ragging is banned by the Supreme Court of India. In order to prevent such kind of activity in campus, an anti-ragging cell has been created by the Teacher In Charge.

Ragging is neither a means of familiarization, nor an prologue with fresher’s, but a form of Psychopathic behaviour. Ragging is an infringement of Human Rights. Respect for Humanitarian Values. Ragging is a gruesome offence, heavily punishable under the law. Ragging may mess up your career perpetually.

FOLLOWING BEHAVIOUR WITH FRESHERS IS TANTAMOUNT TO RAGGING:

Force students to address seniors as ‘Sir’

Force students to perform mass drills.

Force students to copy class notes for the seniors.

Force students to run various errands.

Force students to do menial jobs for the seniors.

Force students to ask/answer vulgar questions.

Force students to watch pornographic pictures

Force students to drink alcohol, scalding tea, smoking, etc.

Force students to perform acts with sexual overtones, including homosexual acts.

Force students to Forceful Expenditure or Financial Extortion.

Force student to do unlawful assembly or conspiracy to ragging.

PUNITIVE MEASURES FOR RAGGING

Depending upon the nature and seriousness of the offence as established by the Anti-Ragging Cell of the College, the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging shall be one or any combination of the following:

Cancellation of admission.

Suspension from attending classes.

Debarring from any test/examination or any other evaluation process.

Collective punishment when individuals committing or abetting ragging are not identified.

At HingalganjMahavidyalaya, an active Anti-Ragging Cell functions to ensure that no student is subject to the heinous crime of ragging.

At the time of the admission, every student must sign an undertaking that they would not indulge in any form of ragging. They are made aware of the penal consequences should they ever engage in participating in any such action, directly or indirectly.

The Anti-Ragging Cell works along side the Students’ Council to make the newly admitted batch feel welcome through celebration of Nabin Baran.

The campus is under 24 hours CCTV surveillance to ensure that no untoward incident occurs in this regard.

There has been no incident recorded since the inception of the Anti-Ragging Cell. If any student feels any kind of trouble or faces any bullying from his/her seniors or classmates, he/she can report the case without fear to the Cell through telephone or email. The Email Id and Phone number of the Anti-Ragging Cell is displayed prominently within the campus as well.
